The Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies in Ghana serve as planning authorities within their respective geographic areas, operating under Act 936 of 2016. Their primary objective is to promote the socio-economic development of their districts. This entails identifying the needs of the district, devising strategies to address those needs, and securing the necessary resources, particularly financial, for implementing these strategies. Revenue generation is essential for realizing the development goals outlined in these plans.
To enhance the capacity of Revenue Collectors in the North Tongu District Assembly, the Human Resource Department and Management initiated a training program. Mr. Francis Sogbe, the Volta Regional Director of the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, was chosen to provide training on revenue mobilization. The District Chief Executive welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of decentralization and the associated responsibilities. He encouraged participants to actively engage with the training to improve revenue collection, thereby fostering growth and development in the district.
